As everyone knows, games develop over the series, gradually introducing new components to revitalize and bring their titles up to current trends and standards. Sequels and spiritual successors tend not just to include these new factors but returning features that fans of the series have come to love.

In Two Point Campus, these features show themselves mainly in the gameplay design and how it's adapted to the university setting; there are references to find on top of this. Whatever your relationship with Two Point Campus is, whether you're a longstanding player or a newcomer to the universe, there are some elements that only fans of both titles will recognize.

9/9 The Happiness Rating Is Like The Reputation System

Two POint Campus Gardening club

Keeping students happy is the goal; without this happiness, they'll fail to achieve good grades and may even opt to drop out. In Two Point Hospital, the reputation system works the same way. The only real difference is that your goal is instead to cure patients and keep them healthy.

Nothing else in these games matters if you can't get these under control. Both systems require you to make safety and mindfulness for those under your care your number one priority meaning anyone who's played Hospital has a head start in the matter.

8/9 Spamming Items Still Works For Leveling Up Fast

Two Point Campus pastoral care room.

If there's a way to make a task easier, why not use it? It's up for grabs, after all. Cheat codes in The Sims, San Andreas, Doom. Accessibility modes in The Last Of Us Part 2, Hades, and Marvel's Spider-Man. Even easy modes are present in most games. The list goes on. For making life a little easier, the old trick of spamming plants in Two Point Hospital works just as well in Two Point Campus.

Placing a rose or two in every room and dotting around windows like you can't survive without constant sunlight is the way to increase levels in both games.

7/9 Mitton University Makes A Return

Two Point Campus the outskirts of Mitton University's playable area.

Mitton University makes its first appearance in the second world of Two Point Hospital and is the third campus you unlock in Two Point Campus. The lot is chilly in both games, being used to introduce radiators to the player and the importance of keeping your rooms at a safe temperature.

Mitton University is an old building you must develop and build within to ensure it's up to par with hospital and campus facilities, and the open plan of the plot allows this to be done with ease.

6/9 Doctor, Please Return To The Hospital

Psychiatry in Two Point Hospital

This entry is self-explanatory, but during the announcer's, well, announcing, you can sometimes hear her tell the doctor to return to the hospital. We're not sure which doctor this is or why they're at the campus in the first place, especially if this dialogue occurs when you don't have a medical room on campus, but hopefully, they do return to their understaffed workplace.

There are a few more references within Two Point Campus, like the frog rain event, but this is much harder to catch in a playthrough.

5/9 Supernatural Roots Through The Series

You can't get more supernatural than ghosts, ghouls, and magical beings, and Two Point County understands this. In Two Point Hospital, after a patient dies, you occasionally get an event where their ghost will haunt your hospice scaring nearby staff and patients. Naturally, this negatively affects anyone close to the spirit, but if you place a janitor near them, they can dispel the entity.

In Two Point Campus, ghosts might not be a thing, but the Dark Arts and Wizardry courses show you teaching students all there is to know about potion making and casting with wands.

4/9 The Return Of Cheesy Gubbins

Two Point Campus staff room with Cheesy Gubbins machine and television.

Cheesy Gubbins is Two Point County residents' favorite snack and a fantastic treat at the end of the school or work day. Gubbins is cheesy goodness and is generally favored by people over other food products. These machines can be placed in both games, so you can put one on every wall, in every room, or even pack a room with the stuff if it pleases you.

They benefit your characters by providing them with food and energy to prepare them for whatever comes next.

3/9 The Ceremony At Year End

Two Point Hospital awards ceremony. Two Point Campus graduation ceremony.

At the end of every year, there's a ceremony wrapping up your progress on how much you achieved. In Two Point Hospital, this is an awards ceremony announcing which (if any) of the twelve awards you won. There's the best research and best teaching hospital. The doctor, nurse, employer, assistant, janitor, and hospital of the year. The most prestigious hospital, rising star award, patients' choice award, and recognition for if you got no deaths in the year.

In Two Point Campus, this ceremony is graduation, and the available awards are academic excellence, staff satisfaction, campus of the year, student choice, the best teacher, and rising staff — as well as awards for research, training, developing student relationships, and recruiting students to clubs.

2/9 Simulation Elements Are Almost The Same

Two Point Campus Robotics Cyborg who needs the bathroom

Two Point Campus is a game with merits and features not present in its predecessor. However, there is one huge similarity. Although Campus has swapped saving patient lives with helping students begin their lives, the simulation aspects remain largely the same. Now, this isn't a problem; it's the complete opposite. As they say, if it isn't broke, don't fix it, and Two Point County knows this.

Building rooms and placing furniture hasn't changed much, aside from what you're placing down. Likewise, looking after your characters' mental health has mostly stayed the same, and the art style hasn't changed much either. This angle worked for Two Point Hospital and works excellently for Two Point Campus.

1/9 The Addition Of Gigs

Two Point Campus Boogie Knights performing a gig at the student union during summer.

Gigs and events are a new addition to Two Point Campus. While Two Point Hospital has a few events, they aren't the same as the ones in Campus, and there are fewer of them. Events include course-specific ones like the culinary competitions for Gastronomy or the Cheeseball games for Academic Exercise. Gigs include a variety of performances you can schedule that will benefit your students with various buffs.

Every gig will increase your students' movement speed and overall happiness, the percentage of which is based on whether you pay for a low-tier gig or a high-end one.
